This post is 8 days late, but with the release of Baucus healthcare plan and Dan Brown's latest novel, we thought it best to allow the buzz to pass prior to publishing "9/19, A Saturday with Sandy and Genevieve."
We recently participated in our first ever paid running event, the Fall Color Run in Buena Vista. It is a small town with a backdrop of 14,000 foot mountains and at an elevation of 8,000, for reasons unbeknownst, we thought we should go run there. Our friends Amy and April invited us. Together we ran all the event options:
- April (and Charlotte the schnoodle) ran the 1 mile "fun" run
- Genevieve ran the 5K
- I ran the 10K
- Amy ran the 1/2 marathon (!)
The best part was the food at the finish line. I am confident that all of the Grandmothers in Buena Vista were up late baking on Friday, as there was homemade molasses cookies (with frosting), as well as gingerbread, chocolate chip, peanut butter and sugar cookies, cake, bread, brownies and rice krispy treats. It is a near certainty we will run again next year, but maybe only the One Mile Fun Run, so we can get to the finish line quicker.
There are no pictures of us running, not a pretty sight anyway, but the aspens were changing so below is some mountain scenery.
